Hi-Tec Systems was one of two companies awarded a five-year IDIQ contract in Aviation Security Technology Integration in July, 2002. The main focus of this contract is part of the FAA's national effort to "counter current and future terrorist threats and criminal acts through research and development of new technologies…any place in the country or in the world." Toward that end, projects were identified to study (1) air carrier and airport security personnel; (2) research and development; (3) the deployment of explosive detection equipment; (4) threats to civil aviation and public notification; (5) airport construction guidelines; and (6) screening of mail and cargo. To date, one Delivery Order was issued to investigate Suspicious Behavior. Hi-Tec is supported in this contract by four subcontractors: Veridian, JIL Information Systems, Raytheon and Boston Dynamics.
